1.Complete the following passage by using the sentences given below. Each sentence be used only once. Note that there are two more sentences than you need.

Today, in most of the theatres in Britain, the stages are situated behind a sort of arch (拱门), called the proscenium (幕布前的舞台部分)arch. The arch runs across the building with the stage on one side of it and the auditorium, housing the audience, on the other. The audience is kept to the area from which it can get a clear view of the stage. This type of theatre has been is use for three hundred years. ________ The actor can ignore them until the end, when they applaud the performance. If an actor wants to speak to the audience he tends to step out of the picture, as it were—down to the edge of the stage.

________ Stage furniture or properties—\"props\– are now as few as possible. Elaborate scenery is used only when it is going to last throughout the play, or when it is so constructed that it can be changed quickly. Modern theatres are built with the stage extending far in front of the proscenium arch, if indeed they have a proscenium arch at all, electricity, already long in use, has recently had a revolutionary effect. A change of lighting is as good as a change of scenery, and simpler and quicker; it can light one part of the stage in place of another. Footlights have been found unnecessary. Curtains also are hardly necessary, since the stage can be darkened to signify the end of a scene.

The modern idea of having the stage in front of the proscenium arch is not really modern, of course. It makes our stages much like Shakespeare's. ________ The famous speeches of Hamlet, for instance, can be delivered more quietly and naturally than they were in the las century. The actors no longer have to worry much about not being heard, or about turning their backs to the auditorium. They can get closer to the audience, while a larger audience can see them at work. Moreover, nowadays, people are finding that modern theatres are built to sit in comfortably for two or three hours at a stretch. ________ The result of these improvements is that, in spite of the high price of seats, perhaps more people than ever before are keen on theatre-going. A. Over the last few decades, since the Second World War, theatrical customs have altered. B. It makes people feel, as they watch a play or a show, that they are seeing a living and moving picture.

C. All these innovations have quickened up the pace of the drama. D. This is an advantage both for actors and audience.

E. Today the theatres are much more comfortable because of the many improvements. F. Often they can meet and eat in the restaurants attached to the theatres. 【答案】 B;D;A;E

(1)根据本空前的“The arch runs across the building with the stage on one side of it and the auditorium, housing the audience, on the other. The audience is kept to the area from which it can get a clear view of the stage”可知,拱门穿过整个建筑,一边是舞台,另一边是容纳观众的礼堂,观众被限制在能清楚地看到舞台的地方,此处是说这样布局的原因,B项(它让

(3)根据本空后的“The famous speeches of Hamlet, for instance, can be delivered more quietly and naturally than they were in the last century.” (4)根据本空后的“The result of these improvements is that, in spite of the high price of seats, perhaps more people than ever before are keen on theatre-going.”

The autumn wind woke me up from my dream. I took a deep breath and looked around. Suddenly I saw two people approaching me. As there was no one else in the park, they caught my attention immediately.

The two people were getting closer and I heard them laughing. At first, this laugh made me annoyed as if they had broken my unity with this park and disturbed my thoughts. But all of a sudden, I noticed the age of them — they were old. I could not clearly identify their age, but the woman looked as old as my grandmother. She had grey hair, blue eyes, and a smile on her face. And all the time she was looking at HIM...

\"Jim, I think we should change the park. It's the same every Saturday. You know...\" \"Sus! Hug me.\"— that was all he said. He looked at her, smiled and gave her a hug.

At this very moment, I saw an old but strong man who knew his wife, and no matter how often she could be complaining, he loved her! I imagined the many things they might go through together — so many hardships that might make them cry, all the problems that they might be experiencing right now and the probability that one of them would outlive the other. And the one that outlives will think the life they spent together was the most beautiful period of their life. They left, and I was sitting on my bench, shocked, and I had a special feeling in my heart. This feeling was hope! The old couple with all the complaints and tons of mistakes behind their backs made me realize that it was happiness that mattered in life. Eventually, all people would get old and die, and what made a difference was the person you had dedicated your life to. I made a wish — waking up one day, being old and feeling proud of being together with the person I loved to overcome all the obstacles ( 障碍) and fight for happiness.

(1)Why did the author become angry at the old couple's laugh? (no more than 15 words) (2)Why did the old couple look at each other all the time? (no more than 10 words) (3)What was the author doing at that moment in Paragraph 4? (no more than 20 words)

(4)What does the underlined word \"dedicated\" mean in the last paragraph? (1 word) (5)How do you like the old couple? What can you learn from the passage? Please express it in your own words. (no more than 20 words)

(1)Because it had broken his unity with the park and disturbed his thoughts. (2)Because they loved each other deeply.

(3)The author was wondering what made the old couple love each other so much/The author was imagining what the old couple might have gone through in life and made them love each other deeply.

(4)Devoted/ Give entirely.

(5)I think they are admirable/ encouraging/ a good example for us!We should cherish people who love us and fight for happiness with them together.

根据上文“Eventually, all people would get old and die, and what made a difference was the person you had”可知最终,所有的人都会变老并死去,而真正起作用的是和你相伴一生的人,你为之奉献一生的人。

I think they are admirable/ encouraging/ a good example for us!(我认为他们是值得钦佩的/鼓舞的/为我们树立了一个好榜样!)或We should cherish people who love us and fight for happiness with them together.(我们应该珍惜爱我们的人,和他们一起为幸福而奋斗。)

In an ideal world, we usually get eight hours of sleep every night, and wake up with enough energy before work. But when we're struggling to balance the responsibilities of everyday life, cutting back on sleep seems to be the only solution. Many of us rely on coffee or energy drinks to get us through the day, instead of making sleep a priority. Sadly, as delicious as it can be, caffeine is not the solution. Being tired not only brings down our energy levels, but also makes us less productive and less motivated. There are concrete steps you can take right now to renew your energy.

Awareness comes first because you have to understand what's going on before you can do anything to change it. Most of us are too busy to notice how fatigue(疲劳) really affects our bodies and minds. What signs of trouble do you regularly display? The patterns of your signs of trouble can give you clues about the negative effects of your fatigue. In addition, it's wise to start thinking about whoever can feel the effects of your fatigue.

Reflecting on the choices you've made can provide clarity, which will help you figure out what needs to be changed. During this reflection, you will be able to understand more about yourself and why you do the things you do. You may decide to forgive yourself for the mistakes you've made. Thinking about the positive aspects of your life will make you feel refreshed and ready to move forward.

Conversing with others not only provides support, but also leads to new perspectives and feedback that can help with treatment and what you need to heal. To start with, have an open mind and an open heart. Limit complaining. Complaints may need to be aired in order to relieve pressure, but if they dominate(占上风), anger will win. Tell the truth. You do not need to tell people everything, but you do need to be honest. Listen carefully because it shows respect. The fourth step is about renewal—getting rid of what is bringing you down and making a fresh start. It's helpful to break the process down. It is easier to make small adjustments than big ones. On occasion, the small steps alone can remove fatigue. For instance, you may not need to change your career but change emphasis. If you feel hopelessly dragged down by fatigue, self-care may be the best prescription.

Four steps to fight fatigue Phenomenon Steps to energy Many people rely on coffee or energy drinks to overcome fatigue. ________ ● Identify the signs of ________ you display regularly, which can give you information about the bad effects of your fatigue. ● Think about the people who can sense your fatigue. Reflection ● Find out the things that need ________by thinking carefully about the choices you've made. ● Think ________, and you will feel refreshed and be ready to move forward. ________ ● Be open to others but don't ________too much. ● There is no need to tell others everything but you do need to show ________ by telling the truth. ● Show respect for others by________carefully. Plan-and-act ●________ yourself of what brings you down and start afresh. ● Make small________or adopt a self-care attitude. Awareness;trouble;changing;positively;Conversation;complain;honesty;listening;Rid;adjustments/changes

(1)考查信息提升,根据第二段中的“Awareness comes first because you have to understand what's going on before you can do anything to change it.”

根据第二段中的“What signs of trouble do you regularly display?”

根据第三段中的“Reflecting on the choices you've made can provide clarity, which will help you figure out what needs to be changed.”

根据第三段中的“Thinking about the positive aspects of your life will make you feel refreshed and ready to move forward.

根据第四段中的“Conversing with others not only provides support, but also leads to new perspectives and feedback that can help with treatment and what you need to heal.”

Complaints may need to be aired in order to relieve pressure, but if they dominate(占上风), anger will win.”

You do not need to tell people everything, but you do need to be honest.” 根据第四段中的“Listen carefully because it shows respect.”

根据最后一段中的“The fourth step is about renewal—getting rid of what is bringing you down and making a fresh start.”

根据最后一段中的“It is easier to make small adjustments than big ones. 作Make的宾语,用名词,所以填adjustments/changes。

Most of us probably dreamed about becoming an astronaut when we were little. But how many of us actually became one, or are at least working toward it?

The advice “Always follow your dreams” is something that is typically easier said than done. But still, this is the one piece of advice that Alyssa Carson wants to share with her peers. This 17-year-old girl from the US has become one of the candidates for NASA's 2033 project to go to Mars. If everything goes well, Carson will be one of the first human beings to ever set foot on the red planet.

Carson has dreamed of going to Mars since she was only three years old. Watching an astronaut-themed cartoon and learning that humans have only been to the moon but not Mars, Carson decided that she wanted to be the first one to do so.

Since then, she has worked hard toward this goal. At the age of 12, Carson became the first person to attend all three NASA space camps, and she sat with real astronauts in a NASA panel(座谈会) to discuss the future of Mars missions.

Now 17, Carson is continuing with her space training while still taking on her high school work like a “normal” teenager, except that she studies all her subjects in four languages – English, French, Spanish and Chinese.

“I don't think there's anything specific that makes it easier for me or makes it something that others can't do,” Carson said in an interview with Uproxx News. “I've just really focused myself on

what I want to accomplish.”

And Carson is willing to make sacrifices for her dream. She's fully aware of the danger of the mission and the possibility that she might never be able to come back. She also accepts the fact that she can't get married and start a family because any loved ones left on Earth may be a distraction for her and for the mission. But Carson believes that it's all worth it, summarizing her view with this ancient Greek proverb she once quoted, “A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they'll never sit in.”

So after all the hard work that Carson has done and all the sacrifices she's made, everything still boils down to the simple phrase, “follow your dreams”. And while some people's dreams may sound out of this world, in Carson's case, they literally(毫不夸张地) are.

(1)What will happen to Carson in 2033 if everything goes well? (No more than 8 words)

(2)Why did Carson decide to be the first one to go to Mars? (No more than 20 words)

(3)How does Carson differ from other students for the school work? (No more than 10 words)

(4)How do you understand the underlined sentence? (No more than 20 words)

(5)What do you think of the girl? And why? (No more than 25 words)

(1)She will set foot on the Mars. / She will go to the Mars.

(2)Because of watching an astronaut-themed cartoon and learning that humans have only been to the moon but not Mars.

(3)She studies all her subjects in four languages.

(4)A society will make progress if people make contributions without considering personal benefits.

(5)She is brave and unselfish, because she may not return to the earth and is willing to make sacrifices for her dream.

根据第三段中的“This 17-year-old girl from the US has become one of the candidates for NASA's 2033 project to go to Mars. If everything goes well, Carson will be one of the first human beings to ever set foot on the red planet.”可知如果一切进展的顺利,Carson在2033年会go to Mars/ set foot on the Mars。 She will set foot on the Mars. / She will go to the Mars.

根据第四段中的“Watching an astronaut-themed cartoon and learning that humans have only been to the moon but not Mars, Carson decided that she wanted to be the first one to do so.” Because of watching an astronaut-themed cartoon and learning

that humans have only been to the moon but not Mars.

根据第六段中的“Now 17, Carson is continuing with her space training while still taking on her high school work like a “normal” teenager, except that she studies all her subjects in four languages – English, French, Spanish and Chinese.” She studies all her subjects in four languages.

A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they'll never sit in. A society will make progress if people make contributions without considering personal benefits.

She is brave and unselfish, because she may not return to the earth and is willing to make sacrifices for her dream.

One out of many important things for the whole family to do is to have dinner together. Researchers began reporting the benefits of family dinner about a decade ago, focusing mainly on how it affects children. Studies show that those families who eat dinner at least 3 or 4 times a week together, benefit in many ways.

Eating together helps families achieve open communication and build stronger and healthier relationships. Children have better grades at school and are better adjusted as teens and adults, and the entire family enjoys healthier nutrition. For many families, eating dinner together proves to be a good and effective way to reduce the risk of youth rates of addiction, and helps to nurture healthier children. It is also a great time to share the events of the day, discuss news and ideas and just be together and enjoy each other's company.

During dinner time parents have better opportunity to show that they are the prior to their children. Sitting at the same table and sharing meals is where and when parents can find out more about their children's school performance, daily activities and attitudes toward life. When parents have all this information they can better direct their kids toward positive things in life. They also have better chance to reduce the possibility that children will get involved with alcohol, tobacco, and illegal drugs.

However, family researchers say that the benefits of family dinner by no means can be considered as automatic. Parents can sit down to dinner with their kids every day and achieve nothing. Family dinner may not benefit if there is too much arguing going on, if there is no meaningful conversation or, what is even worse, if there is just plain silence during gathering.

(1)What may be the best title for this passage? (no more than 8 words) (2)What benefits can children get from eating together? (no more than 15 words)

(3)How do you explain the underlined word \"nurture\" in Paragraph 2? (no more than 2 words) (4)What information can parents probably get about their children at family dinner? (no more than 15 words)

(5)What should be avoided at the dinner table according to the author? And why? (no more than 15 words)

(1)The Benefits of Eating Together/ The Benefits of Family Dinner/ Family Dinner Brings Lots of Benefits.

(2)They have better grades at school and are better adjusted when they are older. /Children can communicate with their parents and enjoy their company. (3)Raise. /Bing up. /Educate.

(4)They can learn more about their children's school performance, daily activities and attitudes toward life.

(5)Silence. Because without communication no one can get any benefit at the dinner table. /Quarreling. Because it brings about a bad atmosphere that benefits no one. /Meaningless conversation. Because it does not bring any benefit to anyone.

根据第一段中的“Studies show that those families who eat dinner at least 3 or 4 times a week together, benefit in many ways.” The Benefits of Eating Together/ The Benefits of Family Dinner/ Family Dinner Brings Lots of Benefits.

根据第二段中的“Children have better grades at school and are better adjusted as teens and adults”可知在一起吃饭的孩子们在学校有更好的成绩,在青少年和成年人中更容易适应;以及“It is also a great time to share the events of the day, discuss news and ideas and just be together and enjoy each other's company.” They have better grades at school and are better adjusted when they are older.或Children can communicate with their parents and enjoy their company.

根据上文“For many families, eating dinner together proves to be a good and effective way to reduce the risk of youth rates of addiction, and helps to”对许多家庭来说,一起吃晚餐被证明是一个很好的和有效的方法来降低青少年上瘾的风险可知,一起吃晚餐有助于抚养教育出健康的孩子们。 Raise. /Bing up. /Educate.

根据倒数第二段中的“Sitting at the same table and sharing meals is where and when parents can find out more about their children's school performance, daily activities and attitudes toward life.” They can learn more about their children's school performance, daily

activities and attitudes toward life.

根据最后一段中的“Family dinner may not benefit if there is too much arguing going on, if there is no meaningful conversation or, what is even worse, if there is just plain silence during gathering.” Silence. Because without communication no one can get any benefit at the dinner table. 或是Quarreling. Because it brings about a bad atmosphere that benefits no one.或是Meaningless conversation. Because it does not bring any benefit to anyone.

Should schoolchildren have jobs?

Now at school, the last thing you probably want to do is spend your weekends going to work. There is homework to do and sport to play________ When I was a teenager I had a Saturday job in a supermarket: stacking(摆放)shelves and working at the checkout.

Today in the UK you are allowed to work from the age of 13, and many children do take up part-time jobs________Teenagers agree that it teaches valuable lessons about working with adults and also about managing your money. So, that's no bad thing!

Some research has shown that not taking on a Saturday or holiday job could be harmful to a person later on. But despite this, recent statistics have shown that the number of schoolchildren in the UK with a part-time job has fallen by a fifth in the past five years.

________Probably not. Some experts feel that young people feel going out to work will affect their performance at school, and they are under more pressure now to study hard and get good exam results. However, Geoff Barton, general secretary of the Association of School and College leaders, told BBC News “Properly regulated part-time work is a good way of helping young people learn skills that they will need in their working lives”. In reality, it's all about getting the right balance between doing part-time work and having enough time to study and rest.

________One 13 year old girl called Rachel, who has a Saturday job in a shop, told the BBC that “I enjoy my job because I'm earning money and it helps increase my confidence in speaking to people and socializing with people I work with.” That seems like something worth getting up on a Saturday morning________

A. Do you do a part-time job when you are at school? B. So you are not free to do what you are feeling like doing. C. It is a waste of time and does no good to your career prospect. D. It's a waste of independence and a useful thing to put on your CV (简历). E. Does this mean that British teenagers? Are now more afraid of hard work? F. But your parents probably persuade you to find a job and get some life experience. G. Many young people actually want to work because it gives them a sense of freedom.

【答案】F;D;E;G;A

根据空后“When I was a teenager I had a Saturday job in a supermarket: stacking(摆放)shelves and working at the checkout.” 根据空后“Today in the UK you are allowed to work from the age of 13, and many children do take up part-time jobs”今天,在英国,你被允许从13岁开始工作,许多孩子确实从事兼职工作。

根据空后“I enjoy my job because I'm earning money and it helps increase my confidence in speaking to people and socializing with people I work with.”

故选A。

“Urgent action required”, “Do you still want to hear from us?”, “We've updated our privacy policy”, “Should we stop sending you updates? If not, act now!”

Many of us will have received emails like this during the past few weeks. Triggering this flood of emails is something called GDPR that comes into effect in just under two weeks' time. Often the emails warn that if you don't respond, you will be removed from the company's database, which raises a lot of questions. What action, if any, do you need to take? Could it affect you financially? GDPR, which stands for General Data Protection Regulation, has been described as the biggest overhaul(彻底检查)of online privacy since the birth of the internet. It is designed to give all EU citizens the right to know what data is stored on them and to have it deleted, plus protect them from privacy breaches(破坏). It comes into effect on 25 May.

The new rules encourage the requirement for explicit and informed consent before data is processed. As a result, companies and organizations around the world are contacting users to check they are happy to carry on receiving their emails.

However, many of us seem to be going down with “GDPR fatigue(厌倦)”: one article last week claimed that the “reconfirmation rate” - the proportion of people saying they want to continue receiving a company's emails - at UK micro-businesses was averaging just 10%, which meant “they could lose 90% of their subscribers - the life-blood for their business”. So it's no wonder some firms have adopted policies such as offering to enter people into a prize draw in return for them going in and updating their communication preferences.

The average adult is said to have about 100 “data relationships” — companies and organizations that hold our personal data. Meanwhile, the reason why the company that occasionally emails you newsletters is now asking for your consent is perhaps because you never explicitly gave it permission to send you stuff. Maybe you only get its emails because you went to an event it organized ages ago or you once downloaded something from its website. Under the new regime, that almost certainly wouldn't count as explicit and informed consent, hence it's getting in touch now.

The bottom line is that if it is a company or organization that you want to continue hearing from, you should probably click the button or log in to ensure you keep getting its emails. If it doesn't hear from you, it may decide to take you off its database. Passage outline Supporting details ◆ They flood into our lives. unintentionally/unpurposely/indeliberately/undesignedly/unconsciously

根据第二段中的“Often the emails warn that if you don't respond, you will be removed from the company's database”,根据该句可知,垃圾邮件威胁要将我们从公司数据库中删除。 threaten to do固定短语,“威胁要做某事”,故填threaten。

(2)考查推理判断,根据第二段中的“What action, if any, do you need to take? Could it affect you financially?” 该空在系动词之后,应填形容词“担心的”作表语,故填concerned/worried/anxious。

根据第三段中的“It is designed to…”

根据第三段中的“It is designed to give all EU citizens the right to know what data is stored on them and to have it deleted”可知,GDPR的目的之一就是给所有欧盟公民了解哪些数据可以储存,哪些数据可以删除的权利,故该空填right。

该空做require的宾语,故应填名词,答案为protection(保护)/respect(尊重)。

该空在定冠词the之后,故填名词,答案为response(s)(回应)/reaction(s)(反应)。 根据第五段中的“the proportion of people saying they want to continue receiving a company's emails - at UK micro-businesses was averaging just 10%, which meant they could lose 90% of their subscribers - the life-blood for their business”可知,大部分人都不愿意收到这样的邮件,该空做are的表语,故应填形容词,答案为unwilling/reluctant。 根据倒数第三段中的“So it's no wonder some firms have adopted policies

such as offering to enter people into a prize draw in return for them going in and updating their communication preferences”可知,有一些公司会采纳一些政策,例如:如果人们进入,公司会给人们提供一个奖品。故该空应填名词prize/bonus(奖)。

根据倒数第二段中的“the company that occasionally emails you newsletters is now asking for your consent is perhaps because you never explicitly gave it permission to send you stuff ”可知,因为你从未明确的允许某个公司给你寄送东西,所有,这个公司现在给你发电子邮件寻求你的许可。该空做receive的宾语,故应填名词,因此答案为consent/permission/approval/agreement(许可,同意)。

根据倒数第二段中的“…you never explicitly gave it permission to send you stuff. Maybe you only get its emails because you went to an event it organized ages ago or you once downloaded something from its website”可知,或许,你只是数年前参加过某公司组织的活动,或者你曾经从该公司的网站上下载了某些东西,你就收到了它的邮件。

Every animal sleeps, but the reason for this has remained foggy. When lab rats are not allowed to sleep, they die within a month.________ One idea is that sleep helps us strengthen new memories. ________ We know that, while awake, fresh memories are recorded by reinforcing (加强) connections between brain cells, but the memory processes that take place while we sleep have been unclear.

Support is growing for a theory that sleep evolved so that connections between neurons (神经元) in the brain can be weakened overnight, making room for fresh memories to form the next day.________

Now we have the most direct evidence yet that he is right.________ The synapses in the mice taken at the end of a period of sleep were 18 per cent smaller than those taken before sleep, showing that the connections between neurons weaken while sleeping.

If Tononi's theory is right, it would explain why, when we miss a night's, we find it harder the next day to concentrate and learn new information — our brains may have smaller room for new experiences.

Their research also suggests how we may build lasting memories over time even though the synapses become thinner. The team discovered that some synapses seem to be protected and stayed the same size. ________ \"You keep what matters,\" Tononi says. A. We should also try to sleep well the night before.

B. It's as if the brain is preserving its most important memories.

C. That's why students do better in tests if they get a chance to sleep after learning. D. Similarly, when people go for a few days without sleeping, they get sick. E. The processes take place to stop our brains becoming loaded with memories.

F. Tononi's team measured the size of these connections, or synapses, in the brains of 12 mice. G. \"Sleep is the price we pay for learning,\" says Giulio Tononi, who developed the idea.

When lab rats are not allowed to sleep, they die within a month.

结合上文,上文提及的是一个理论,选项G中的“Giulio Tononi, who developed the idea.

16.Directions: Read the following passage. Fill in each blank with a proper sentence given in the box. Each sentence can be used only once. Note that there are two more sentences than you need.

A problem shared can be a problem doubled

People discuss their problems with friends in the hope that they'll gain some idea on how to solve them. And even if they don't find a way to solve their problems, it feels good to let off some steam. Indeed, having close friends to trust is a good relief against poor mental health. ________ The term psychologist's use for negative problem sharing is \"co-rumination\". Co-rumination is the mutual encouragement to discuss problems too much, repeatedly going over the same problems, expecting future problems and focusing on negative feelings. It is more about keeping talking about problems than solving them. ________ In a study involving children aged seven to 15 years of age, researchers found that co-rumination in both boys and girls is associated with \"high-quality\" and close friendships. However, in girls, it was also associated with anxiety and depression (the same association was not found with the boys).

If we look at the theory behind why individuals ruminate, it may shed some light on why friends co-ruminate. ________ So if two people believe rumination is beneficial, then working together to co-ruminate to find answers may seem like a useful thing to do, as two heads may appear better than one. But focusing on problems and negative emotion together can increase negative beliefs and moods — and result in a greater need to co-ruminate.

Traditionally, therapy has not prioritised handling rumination or co-rumination directly as maintaining factors in psychological problems. Instead, approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) have aimed to challenge only the content of rumination. Humanistic approaches such as counselling have provided conditions to potentially ruminate on the content of problems. And psychodynamic (心理动力的) approaches such as psychoanalysis have aimed to analyze the content of rumination.

________ But if this occurs in therapy, a strong therapeutic relationship may well be a positive outcome of co-rumination — regardless of whether the client's symptoms improve or not. And, on the social side, discussing problems with friends doesn't always have to lead to worsening mental health, as long as the discussion involves finding solutions and the person with the problem acts on those solutions. Then, relationships can be positive and beneficial to both parties, and a problem shared can really be a problem halved.

A. According to a leading theory on rumination, people believe that it will help them find answers and make them feel better. B. How you co-ruminate matters too.

C. Focusing on the content of rumination runs the risk of fostering co-rumination between client and therapist.

D. How problems are discussed, though, can be the difference between halving a problem or doubling it.

E. Co-rumination with work colleagues can increase the risk of stress and tiredness, one study suggests.

F. Research shows that co-rumination is a double-edged sword. 【答案】 D;F;A;C

根据空前\"Indeed, having close friends to trust is a good relief against poor mental health.\"可知拥有亲密的朋友确实可以很好地缓解心理健康状况。 D. How problems are discussed, though, can be the difference between halving a problem or doubling it.

根据空后\"In a study…with anxiety and depression (the same association was not found with the boys).\"可知下文介绍了一项涉及7至15岁儿童的研究,研究发现男孩和女孩的共同反刍与\"高质量\"和亲密的友谊有关。

Research shows that co-rumination is a double-edged sword.

根据空前\"If we look at the theory behind why individuals ruminate, it may shed some light on why friends co-ruminate.\"可知作者想用个人反刍的理论来更好地解释朋友间的共同反刍。 A. According to a leading theory on rumination, people believe that it will help them find answers and make them feel better. A项a leading theory on rumination与前文中的the theory behind why individuals ruminate相呼应。故选A。

根据空后\"But if this occurs in therapy, a strong therapeutic relationship may well be a positive outcome of co-rumination — regardless of whether the client's symptoms improve or not.\"可知在如果在治疗时出现了这件事(this),强烈的治疗关系很可能是共同反刍的积极结果 - 无论客户的症状是否有所改善。 C. Focusing on the content of rumination runs the risk of fostering co-rumination between client and therapist.
