摘要：An engine (14) is coupled to an input member (12) of a hybrid transmission (10).The hybrid transmission (10) is operative to transfer torque between the input member

(12) and a torque machine (56,72) and an output member () to generate an outputtorque in response to an operator torque request. The torque machine (56,72) isconnected to an energy storage device (74). A method for controlling the engine (14)includes monitoring the operator torque request, determining a maximum engine torqueoperating the engine (14) at stoichiometry, determining a maximum motor torque outputfrom the torque machine (56,72), determining a maximum output torque from the hybridtransmission (10) when the torque machine (56,72) is generating the maximum motortorque and the engine (14) is generating the maximum engine torque operating atstoichiometry, and controlling the engine (14) in a fuel enrichment mode when theoperator torque request exceeds the maximum output torque from the hybridtransmission (10) when the torque machine (56,72) is generating the maximum motortorque and the engine (14) is generating the maximum engine torque operating atstoichiometry.
