When graduates start their career, they face a hard question: to be a small fish in a big pond or the other way round. It means that you prefer to stay in big cities or would like to stay in small towns.
It is conceivable that staying in big cities can have more employment opportunities and more experiences. Graduates have chance to see the big world and try more new things in big cities. In large companies, you can learn things not only professional knowledge, but also skills of interpersonal relationships. What's more, it is convenient for them to go to the office or wherever they want to leave for. I hold that the most crucial factor is the higher salary. Some graduates start their career in big cities for the purpose of realizing their dreams, while most of them choose big cities in order to make more money. Those graduates must learn to feed themselves and then they could realize their dreams or do something they really want to do. If they start their career in big cities, they will suffer from the fierce competition of large companies, fast pace of life and high consumption in big cities. They must make more effort to work than who starts their career in small towns.
On the other hand, some other graduates would like to start in small towns. They prefer to have a more comfortable and quieter life there. They can enjoy themselves easier, because they could have a dinner with their families or friends after a day's work;they could have the slow pace of life;they could go to a short trip when they have vacations. Maybe their job's salary is not high. However, they may be appreciated by boss and get promotion easier. They would rather become department managers in companies of small towns than be clerks of big cities. They can get off work on time and seldom work overtime. Every medal has two sides. They choose to start their careers in small towns. In terms of that choice, they may have a common life that is in the lack of passion and challenge. They get a fixed salary and do the same thing every day. There is no denying that kind of life seems boring even meaningless.
As far as I'm concerned, big cities and small towns all have advantages and disadvantages. If I graduate from college, I will start my career in big cities such as Beijing, Shanghai,Shenzhen and so forth. I am so young that I need more chance and challenge to see more possibilities in me. I have innovation to overcome any difficulties and become a better one. After several years' struggle, I not only achieved material wealth, but also grew a lot in work and life Later, I will go to a small town. Maybe it is my hometown where I could enjoy my life and stay with parents.
Above all, everyone has their own choice as different ideas. It's best only when it fits you.
