1. Climate change: Human activities such as burning of fossil fuels and deforestation are leading to a steady increase in average temperatures around the world. This, in turn, is causing melting glaciers, rising sea levels and disruption of food and water supplies.

2. Biodiversity loss: As human activities encroach on natural habitats, species are being pushed towards extinction at an alarming rate. Many species of plants, animals, fungi and micro-organisms are already gone and many more may soon disappear.

3. Pollution: Pollution from industrial sources, agricultural chemicals, and urban activities have polluted air, water and soil to such an extent that some areas may be irreversibly damaged.

4. Natural resource depletion: Our current rate of extraction and use of natural resources is unsustainable. Freshwater and other natural resources like forests, minerals and fish stocks are running out and this is leading to environmental deterioration and economic instability.

5. Health impacts: Environmental degradation has profound effects on human health. Poor air quality, contaminated drinking water and close

contact with dangerous chemicals can lead to causes a range of diseases and other long-term health issues.

6. Socioeconomic impacts: Environmental problems have significant socioeconomic impacts. Air and water pollution, deforestation and dwindling natural resources can cause social and economic disruption and exacerbate poverty and inequality.

7. Environmental justice: Polluting industries and development projects are often located in areas where people lack the opportunity or power to protect themselves. These communities are often disproportionately burdened by the impacts of environmental problems and must fight against them to protect their health and livelihoods.

8. Sustainable development: Sustainable development is the conservation of our natural resources, the use of renewable energy sources, and the enhancement of our ecosystems. Sustainable development requires us to rethink our use of resources, our economic systems and the activities of industry, agriculture and other activities.
